Meet Our Artists
Samson Kebede
Samson Kebede is an artist from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia with a fine arts and Design degree from Addis Abeba university (2012). He also attended a four year Theology program in St' George church for four years. His work is inspired by Ethiopian traditional paintings and focused on 'Telsem'.
The Amharic word 'Telsem' can be interpreted as to put something in symbolic/numeric or alphabetical form, which has a spiritual or philosophical meaning. It is a fascinating art form having different dimensions including cosmic science ( astronomy, astrology), linguistic and the aspect of healing power.
Naod Kiflu
Naod Kiflu is an artist from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia with Bachelor and Master’s Degree of Arts in Fine Arts. His work is inspired by African masks, which have had a long and profound effect on Western modern and contemporary art.
“In the many movements, the African mask has appeared widely in Western art as a fragment that typifies ceremonial masquerade. There's paradoxes in masquerade where, by disguising your own identity and taking on a new identity, you can speak to a truth that might not be accessible in everyday life, and, in fact, change the world in that way."
